Jonathan Ashe brings forth one of the most distinguished voices and spirited guitar styling in contemporary music. He encompasses a versatility that is rarely found. His material ranges from outstanding originals to soulful renditions of select favorites from yesterday and today.
With a career spanning over three decades, we'll go back to the beginning where it all started with His first band, “The Squires”, where he began performing at dances, parties, and proms. Yes, he did practice in the garage, but that was way before the phrase “Garage Band” was ever coined!
Not long after the Squires, Jon signed up to play bass with Billy King & The Coachmen, touring the U.S. and Canada. The road proved to be a great learning experience. During that time, Jon was introduced, worked with, and shared the bill with a plethora of entertainers such as: Tommy James & the Shondells, John Sabastian, Roger McGuinn, Ritchie Havens, Cool & the Gang, Jay & The Americans, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Drifters, The Bemonts, The Duprees, and many more!
Once upon a recording session, Jon found himself in New York City at Allegro studios playing bass on a couple of demos written by Tommy James. The songs were entitled, “Mony, Mony”,and “Do Somethin’ To Me”. Now maybe you know the rest of the story; ”Mony ,Mony” went on to become a 5 million seller, and to some, a rock & roll anthem! Shortly thereafter, Jon joined Tommy James and toured with him for two years, while also co-writing another hit with Tommy called ”Calico”.
Since that time, Jon went on to launched a very successful solo career, forming The Jonathn Ashe Band. Jon performs at at variety of venues, including colleges, clubs, restaurants, and parties. Any spare time is spent creating and writing new music! Jon's most recent CD, “Feels Like Spring” which was a long time comin, turned out to be a “labor of love”! Jon has also co-written and recorded eight new songs for the Geri Ryder album, ”Out Of The Blue”, as well as keeping up with very a busy performance schedule.
When seeing Jon perform, it quickly becomes evident how he establishes a warmth and rapport with his audience. His spontaneous performance style and extensive repertoire make each show unique and special. The Jonathn Ashe Experience is one that is definitely not to be missed!
